Mr.Daniel's issue~
Mr.Daniel is teaching in class 3 Mesra...when he entered the classroom, the pupils would ignore him and don't even bothered to listen to what he wanted to say..there are not much difference when we look at Mr.Daniel's side: he too is ignorant towards his pupils. Although he knew that his pupils wasn't paying any attention to him, he put all the blame on them and just go on teaching the 'walls' of the classroom.
By this, we would like to suggest 3 activities that Mr.Daniel could do in order to save himself and the pupils of the class 3 Mesra...
Activity No.1 "Are you listening?~ Last person to stand up...~"
Based on the situation given, we can say that Mr.Danial have problem in getting his pupils' attention while he is teaching. Clearly he doesn't even bother to try and just go on with his so-called job. As a teacher, Mr.Danial should not have given up on his pupils; he should plan some new methods on getting these pupils back in track.
To get the pupils' attention we must get them to LISTEN. No, you shouldn't rise your voice on them and shout "SHUT UP!". That would scare the heaven out of them.
The pupils need to feel safe around you. So the best way to get your pupils to listen is to PLAY. But not in their way, YOUR way. So I would like to suggest this simple activity to overcome Mr.Danial's issue with his pupils.
I call this activity "Are you listening~? Last person to stand up.."
Then the teacher will get the pupils' participation at random he will say, " the last person to stand up...." and the last person to stand up has to ask a question, or answer a question or explain something.
It is interesting because everybody is attentive after that first " the last person to stand up."
Sure the teacher will work hard on getting the pupils to get use to this game and this might be a very simple activity or routine but the goal on gaining your pupils' attention is rather highly be achieve. Plus, pupils like simpleness.
Came back from my SBE! So here's the result I get with this activity...Are you listening?~
ACTIVITY
2: RIDDLE BOX
AKTIVITY
2 : RIDDLE BOX
I
have come up with an activity for class management.
At
last~ :D
As
the name suggest, its a box full with riddles.
When
I was in primary school, I really love riddles.
My
English teacher, Miss Caroline (maybe Madam now =)) is a great teacher.
She
loved telling stories and giving us riddles in the middle of her lesson.
and
she always starts whenever I feel sleepy or when I start to think that the
class is boring... :3 hehe.
Well,
that is pretty much history of how I got the idea for this activity.
So,
move on to how we teachers should do it...
Alright,
that is all.... Simple, right?
You
can spend about 2-3 minutes for this activity.
Just
remember to not do this too often or it will lose its effectiveness.
Use
other activity as well. :)
Thank
you for reading this and thank you for visiting our blog.
Please
leave a comment. (^_^)/
ACTIVITY
NO. 3: A STORY A DAY
this is an
activity where students are required to go in front and tells a story that has
alternatives and various possible endings for as long as the turns in the class
are not yet finished.
the story
does not necessarily ends in a one lesson class, it could go on for many
lessons after.
this
activity will start at the beginning of the class for about 5-10 minutes and in
that time the students should be able to calm down and got ready for class
instead of loitering around even when the teacher is in class.
the story
could start of with anything, any subject and any characters that the teacher
deemed suitable for the class.
the aim of
this activity is just to simply gets the students' attention and interest in
the class and get students to listen and pay attention to their friends and
teachers as the turn could go to anyone.
ACTIVITY 4: GO baNanAs~!!!
hey guys!=) i've came up with another activity called Go BaNAnas~! i hope this would be useful for you.
it's just for fun and just plain silly=) students will enjoy this when in the brink of drowsiness as may help energize the class and make them stretch a little after a long draggy class. enjoy!=D
the activity is simple:
1. ask the students to stand up and find space that is enough for them to move around.
2. make them stretch a little bit by moving them to left or to the right
3. ask the students to raise both of their hands up above the head and join them, making a triangle shape.
4. teacher follows and demonstrate with the students.
5. then start singing with some actions!
"peel bananas,
peel, peel bananas,(right hand go down simultaneously with the rhythm of the song like peeling a banana) peel bananas,
peel, peel bananas,(left hand go down simultaneously with the rhythm of the song like peeling a banana)
shake bananas,
shake, shake bananas, ( students shake their body imitating the shape of a banana)
twist bananas,
twist, twist bananas, ( students twist their body imitating a shape of a banana)
bite bananas,
bite, bite bananas!, ( students bend down their knees and
go down slowly as if they were bitten)
6. then teacher repeats until the students are simultaneously in sync with each other.
7. teacher then may continue with a fully energized class!=D
so teachers, when the class is out of energy just,
CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO!=)) even grown ups could do it.GO BANANAS~!!
Aktiviti yang menarik dan unik...bukan sahaja dapat membantu murid menumpukan perhatian dan dapat mengembangkan perkembangan (JERIS) mereka, malah dapat mewujudkan suasana pembelajaran yang menarik dan menyeronokkan murid-murid...Keep it up...:)
